Il bilancio d’esercizio delle società non quotate a seguito della Direttiva 34/2013: verso una maggiore armonizzazione contabile?

Abstract

On 26 June 2013, the European Parliament and the Council issued Directive no. 34/2013/EU on the annual and consolidated financial statements of companies, repealing the IV and VII EEC directives and rewriting the rules on financial statement. Directive no. 34/2013/EU was implemented by the individual Member States in 2015 and was applied for the first time for the financial statements published in 2017, referring to the period beginning on 1 January 2016. Among the objectives of Directive no. 34/2013/EU are the reduction/simplification of administrative costs, especially for small and medium-sized companies, the facilitation of cross-border investments and the growth throughout the European Union of comparability and public confidence in the financial statement and in its information, providing more consistent data. The aim of this paper is to investigate the level of the de jure harmonization achieved between three EU Member States – Italy, France and Spain – after the implementation of Directive n. 34/2013/EU.
